Headphones

This girl loves music.  She recently discovered headphones and how to put them in her ears.  (She has a weird attraction to putting things in her ears)  Her favorite songs are "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen and "Madness" by Muse.   I needed to get some work done on my computer and she let me make that happen by listening to her favorite songs on repeat.

Autumn in January

In Arizona the leaves fall in January.  So even though we are a few months behind everyone else in the nation, we enjoy it anyway.  Em enjoyed running through a very nice pile of leaves that gathered on my parents lawn.  The leaves made a beautiful backdrop for pictures...I had a hard time picking just one!

Blankie Hood

This girl loves her blankie.  It might be a phase but she has been putting the blanket over her head like a hood.  I love it and it makes for some great pictures!  She was really sleepy...just look at those tired eyes.

Rainy Sunday

Why does Sunday seem to be an appropriate rainy day to me?  Maybe because Sundays are usually our relaxing days and rain makes me feel like snuggling in my pj's.   We spent the day snuggling on the couch and reading books, my favorite.

Hair Cuts

Em got her first real hair cut today.  We've been going to Sara for a long time and we love love LOVE her!  Em asks to see her constantly.  It was about time for Em to get her hair cut.  I don't know if you have noticed but child has some crazy hair.  She usually pulls our her hair clip and instantly looks like an orphan.  She sat on David's lap and was seriously a statue.  She was super serious and didn't make a peep.  Then at the end, she stared straight into my lens and gave me the most precious grin, my heart melted.

The Hubs

It has been raining a lot here lately.  I love the rain and so we spent an afternoon outside in the drizzle.  My handsome hubs, David, never gets his picture taken unless Em's the center of it.  He likes to frown in pictures because he likes to do the opposite of what's conventional (I really do love that about him).  While David played with Em, I sat with grey kitty under the grapefruit tree.

Shoe Love

I am a lover of shoes.  I have no problem saying that I have over 50 pairs.  Shoes make me happy and I believe everyone has to have their thing.  So when I had Em, I bought lots of shoes.  Little kid shoes are just so fun and sparkly!  Now Em loves shoes and that makes me really happy.

Olivia

If you haven't don't know about Olivia the pig, you are missing out.  The Olivia books are our favorite.  I love her spunky personality.  These are books adults enjoy just as much as the kids.  Which  I really appreciate because I get really sick and tired of reading "Brown Bear Brown Bear" and "Abby Cadaby Goes Potty".  Anyway, below is Olivia...she is in time out.  I'm not sure why she was in trouble, but Em put her there and very lovingly told her she had been naughty, then she forgot about her.  Too bad I can't do that!

Door Games

Em is obsessed with closing doors.  She likes to tell me to stay in one room while she shuts me in there.  Unfortunately for her, (not for me at all) she can't open doors yet.  So, all day we pretty much play a back and forth game of open door, shut door.  It's great fun.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

I love when I'm not the one driving the car.  Em is so charismatic in the car and I love to soak that up.   She enjoys singing songs in the car and this time we got stuck singing 'The Itsy Bitsy Spider' over and over.  Good thing she's cute!

Resilient

Arizona has had some very cold weather lately.  It got down to below freezing at night, which is a huge deal around here.  Sadly, the plants in our backyard didn't exactly live through the freezing nights.  I went out to check on a few of them and found that a one particular flower pot was still going strong.  The oranges seemed to have survived as well.  These pictures make me want an ice cold glass of OJ!

Long Walks

We took a much needed walk today and visited the library.  I enjoyed the weather and she enjoyed the calculator and pink sprinkles.

Pink

Em was a real trooper and went with me to get the car washed and the oil changed.  She can go just about anywhere as long as I bring her 'nacks'.

Little Big Girl

We were late.  She was blissfully unaware of my urgent need to get in the car.  She wanted to use a pencil.  I am so glad that I slowed down and caught these pictures.  I love the way she holds a pencil, just like an adult.

We introduced Playdoh to Em today.  It was a life changing moment, for all of us.  I just might be able to get a few things done if I let her play "balls" as she calls it (because all she wants me to do is roll the dough in a bunch of different size balls).

I'm a puzzle lover.  I almost always have a puzzle in progress.  Today I could tell that I needed a puzzle so I snagged this one without really thinking about the picture.  I love a challenging puzzle but this one is going to test me.

Em would live in the bathtub if I would let her.  Its our go to when she hits a grumpy insufferable spot.  It always turns her frown upside down, as long as there are bubbles...lots and lots of bubbles!

It's been pretty cold here in Arizona.  Unusually cold for us warm blooded folks!  Em snuggled up on the couch tonight with my phone to play her games.  I love the concentration on that cute little face.
