February: Week 2

[February 9]

Little known fact:  'banana'  is one of the most complex words for a child to say.  Despite this, Em loves 'nanas'.

[February 10]

My little book worm and bath tub fish.

[February 11]

Here we are, at the play place, and all my child wants to do is observe.  I have no clue where she got that from. [oops, sorry Em]

[February 12]

Little mommy playing with her "go-go".  We also now believe in the magical healing power of princess bandaids.

[February 13]

The hubs found the wooden mail box that he used to play with as a kid.  It entertained her for a good hour.

[February 14]

It was a busy day but I managed to snap a photo with my phone of the beautiful roses the hubs bought me for Valentine's Day.

[February 15]

I missed this day.... [sigh]

February: Week One

[February 1]

We went to the library where they have big windows and lots of toys.  We were both happy.

[February 2]

Em has the night light, owl, that she has become very attached to.  I wanted to try and practice photographing high contrast lighting situations.

[February 3]

When I get ready in the morning, Em digs through my drawers and pulls out all my tank tops.  She wears them like capes.  I love it.  This morning she was grumpy and had orphan hair.

[February 4]

I work at a place called Gymboree Play & Music.  I highly recommend it to anyone with a small child.  It is the most fun and magical place to play alongside your child [end commercial].  Em loves to be there.  She especially loves bubble time!

[February 5]

My mom had a vase of tulips, my favorite flower, on her kitchen counter.  They were right under a skylight letting in the most beautiful soft light.  [sigh]  So beautiful.

[February 6]

I love the way this girl holds a crayon.

[February 7]

Ugh, the life of a photographer who's only subject is a wild toddler.

[February 8]

Peek-a-boo.  High chairs are more fun when you don't sit in them.

Ooops

Oh hey remember my goal for the year?  I've stuck to it. I've only missed 3 or 4 days which I consider a major victory point!  BUT...I have been horrible at editing and posting my photos.  One goal at a time right?  Well get ready for catch up time!  I've got photos to post from February until May!

Let's start with...

      [January 31]

Em has crazy hair, she gets it from her dad.  She also likes to boss me around.  She gets that from being a toddler.

...its good to be back...

Rock the Shot March Photo Challenge

Rock the Shot forum does a monthly photo challenge and for March the challenge is "flowers".

Arizona is pretty, well, dead.  Not a whole lot grows here but this winter it got exceptionally cold and everything froze.  Every plant died and then shortly after it rained a lot which is also really unusual.  This combination caused the most amazing blooms to happen all at once.  Maybe I just never took the time to notice it before but it is actually spring here in the desert!

I stopped dead in my tracks when I went out to get the mail the other day and the tree on the side of the house was in FULL bloom.  Beautiful pink flowers all over it.  Breathtaking.

Headphones

This girl loves music.  She recently discovered headphones and how to put them in her ears.  (She has a weird attraction to putting things in her ears)  Her favorite songs are "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen and "Madness" by Muse.   I needed to get some work done on my computer and she let me make that happen by listening to her favorite songs on repeat.

Autumn in January

In Arizona the leaves fall in January.  So even though we are a few months behind everyone else in the nation, we enjoy it anyway.  Em enjoyed running through a very nice pile of leaves that gathered on my parents lawn.  The leaves made a beautiful backdrop for pictures...I had a hard time picking just one!

Blankie Hood

This girl loves her blankie.  It might be a phase but she has been putting the blanket over her head like a hood.  I love it and it makes for some great pictures!  She was really sleepy...just look at those tired eyes.
